The teachers at Momentum Early Learning dedicate much of their time and heart to the children in their classroom. We appreciate all of their hard work and the commitment they make to maintain a higher standard of excellence in everything they do. The culture at Momentum is driven by one unified vision… “Grow as a cohesive and fun team with purpose, engagement, passion, and quality”. Here is a look into the life of one of our many excellent teachers. Find out what they love and what inspires them to be a great educator.
Introducing….Ms. Rebecca at our Germantown Campus:
How long have you worked at Momentum?
1 Year and 4 Months
What classroom do you teach?
What made you want to become a teacher?
My teachers had a huge power over how I felt about myself, both bad and good! I wanted to teach children by helping them become good friends and have positive images of themselves and their abilities.
What or who inspires you?
Ellen DeGeneres. I appreciate her so much because she is a strong, humorous and intelligent person who uses her platform address important issues going on in our world today. She does it with love and empathy.
What is your favorite kind of activity to teach? (sensory, gross motor, etc.)
Science. I like to learn how they think and see how excited the students get about learning and experiencing new things! It is just wonderful! 😊
What is one of your first memories from school?
First Grade. I was reading a story aloud and shouted the word “BANG.” Even though I probably scared everyone in my room, my teacher congratulated me on reading with feeling.
What is one of your hidden talents?
Swing dancing! I try to do it once a week with my friends downtown!
Do you have any pets?
Two guinea pigs. Their names are Scottie and S’mores.
What is your favorite thing to cook?
I really like making soup. It’s interesting to experiment and difficult to mess up. I usually don’t work with a recipe.
What is your favorite way to relax? Cross stitching/ sewing.
What is your favorite TV show/guilty pleasure?
BBC America shows, documentaries and movies.
What makes a “good day” at Momentum?
Lots of hugs and learning, leaving with a smile on my face, and knowing I made a positive difference in my kids lives.
What kind of morning routine do you have to get excited for the day?
I listen to podcasts every morning while I get ready and drive to work.
What is the best thing about being a teacher?
Being able to coach a child through learning something that they find difficult. When they finally understand, I get to see the light bulb switch on in their brain.
If you could take your class on a field trip anywhere in the world, where would you go?
The Florida Keys, to learn about Florida’s ecosystem. We could snorkel and learn about the plants and animals that live there. (I went to Florida in high school, that is where I learned how to SCUBA dive and developed a love of science!)
