The teachers at Momentum Early Learning dedicate much of their time and heart to the children in their classroom. We appreciate all of their hard work and the commitment they make to maintain a higher standard of excellence in everything they do. The culture at Momentum is driven by one unified vision… “Grow as a cohesive and fun team with purpose, engagement, passion, and quality”. Here is a look into the life of one of our many excellent teachers. Find out what they love and what inspires them to be a great educator.
Introducing Ms. Raquel at Germantown!
How long have you worked at Momentum?
What classroom do you teach?
I was originally in the Trailblazing Tots classroom and I have now moved into the Chatter Bugs classroom.
What made you want to become a teacher?
I’ve always loved working with children and have been in the field for over 15 years. I love helping people, not just the kids in my class but the families too.
What or who inspires you?
My daughter Elianna, because she inspires me to be a better person.
What is your favorite kind of activity to teach? (sensory, gross motor, etc.)
I love sensory and creating art with the kiddos. My favorite sensory activity is using shredded paper, different pictures and shovels to play and explore.
What is one of your first memories from school?
I remember loving music and art. I guess you could say I like more of the creative subjects in school.
What is one of your hidden talents?
Most of my childhood, up until I turned 18, I played piano and viola. I was in many competitive talent shows. I also performed in my high school’s symphonic orchestra with famous Russian musicians.
Do you have any pets?
We used to have 12 pound bunny. 😊
What is your favorite thing to cook? (if you don’t like to cook, what is your favorite food?)
I love “winging” meals and combining different components. Usually my creations come out tasting pretty good. As for baking, following directions and measuring out ingredients is not my “cup of tea.” Therefore, I try to stay away from baking.
What is your favorite way to relax?
I love to take nature walks and to color. It is methodical and relaxing.
What is your favorite TV show/guilty pleasure?
I do not watch much television at all, so I do not have a favorite. Instead my guilty pleasures are food shopping and Couponing.
What makes a “good day” at Momentum?
A smooth day where the kids are happy, nobody gets hurt and all of my class goes home with smiles on their faces.
What kind of morning routine do you have to get excited for the day?
The way I get myself excited for the day is by waking up and making coffee. I absolutely love that morning cup of coffee!
What is the best thing about being a teacher?
The giggles you hear daily and the memories that you make with them. Also, the fact that I am making a huge difference in the lives of my kids. This change happens the second they step foot into my classroom. Not to mention, all the hugs and kisses!
If you could take your class on a field trip anywhere in the world, where would you go?
The zoo! We would explore the animals and I would love to be able to let the kids feed them as well. That would be a cool experience.
