Introducing, Ms. Ashley at Germantown…

ashley giving high five to friendHow long have you worked at Momentum?
At the end of May it will be one year!

What classroom do you teach?
I currently am the Assistant Teacher in CC3, but last summer helped with Camp.

What made you want to become a teacher?
I am actually currently going to school at Moraine Park Technical College in West Bend to become a nurse, but have always wanted to work with children regardless of the occupation. My dream job is actually to become a Nurse Practitioner and I would love to work at Children’s Hospital! I have always wanted to work with children in a medical setting to be an advocate for them when they feel they do not have a voice and to make them happy on their worst days.

What is your favorite kind of activity to teach?ashley at summer party
I enjoy taking my kids outside and being active, since that is something I am interested in and passionate about.

What is one of you first memories from school?
My favorite memories from school were in my favorite classes. I enjoyed anything health, science, or math related, especially my high school anatomy class and psychology!

What is one of your hidden talents?
I am most talented in and enjoy going to school. This will be my fourth semester with a 4.0 GPA (until Fall when I start nursing school)!

Do you have any pets?
I have a goat named Sam, a duck named Junior, two barn cats, two indoor cats named Ozzy and Spike, a hunting dog named Bo, and an indoor dog that is a Chihuahua named Eddie! (we live on a farm).

I HATE HATE HATE cooking, but love to eat and try a lot of foods. My favorite food is ice cream- hands down, and I also love quesadillas.

What is your favorite way to relax?
My favorite way to relax is honestly going to the gym. It is my only me-time, since the majority of the time I am either at work or school.

What is your favorite TV show/guilty pleasure?
My favorite TV shows are Bob’s Burgers and Last Man Standing.

What makes a good day at Momentum?
A good day at Momentum is when every child is happy. It is even better when they all learn something new!

What kind of morning routine do you have to get excited for the day?
I get up two hours before work and go to the gym. Going before work in the morning starts my day off right and wakes me up.

What is the best thing about being a teacher?
ashley and her boyfriend at packer gameFor me, the best part of working with children is making them smile and laugh. It’s one of the many reasons that I want to work in pediatrics or neonatal as a nurse.

If you could take your class on a fieldtrip anywhere in the world, where would you go?
If I could take my kids anywhere in the world, I would take them to Disney World because I feel like every kid deserves to go there at least once! I went when I was four and am planning a trip for next year with my boyfriend and his family.
