Ms. Heather at Germantown
How long have you worked at Momentum?
I started in April 2013 at the Sussex location and then moved over to the Germantown campus when they opened.
What classroom do you teach?
I am the teacher in Mobile Tykes.
What made you want to become a teacher?
I have always wanted to teach. I used to play school when I was little, and I was always the teacher.
What or who inspires you?
My children inspire me. I get a lot of strength from them.
What is your favorite kind of activity to teach? (sensory, gross motor, etc.)
I would say my favorite activity to teach is sensory. I like seeing their faces light up when they experience new things. This experience teaches them so much!
What is one of your first memories from school?
One of my first memories was sitting on the carpet and talking about the days, weather and counting. This singing and group time was the absolute best.
What is one of your hidden talents?
I can dance. The types of dance I enjoy are jazz, tap, ballet, and many more. I have been dancing for 18+ years and won’t ever stop.
Do you have any pets?
Nope, I do not have any!
What is your favorite thing to cook? (if you don’t like to cook, what is your favorite food?)
I do enjoy cooking. I like making one pot meals. They are easy and there are so many options of meals to make, honestly, they are endless! Ask me about my favorites and I will walk you through it!
What is your favorite way to relax?
I enjoy reading and spending time with my husband and kids.
What is your favorite TV show/guilty pleasure?
Any cooking or baking show on TV!
What makes a “good day” at Momentum?
A good day is when I see the light bulb go off in my students. That is when you know they have learned something new. They radiate a sense of pride that makes me smile.
What kind of morning routine do you have to get excited for the day?
After I get up and ready in the morning I get in my car and listen to the radio. I enjoy this quiet time. It helps me get prepared for the day ahead.
What is the best thing about being a teacher?
The best part is being able to help young children learn and grow. Also, the hugs are great too! 😊
If you could take your class on a fieldtrip anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Honestly, I would take them to the zoo. The age I teach loves animals; I know they would love it.
